The officer was joined by a second officer, and upon approaching the vehicle, they noticed noticed blood smears on Legebokoff’s face and chin, blood on his legs, and a pool of blood on the driver’s mat. On a hunch the officer pulled him over for a routine traffic stop, finding it suspicious anyone would be using the logging road at this time of night, especially in November, initially suspecting Legebokoff of poaching. On November 27th, 2010, at approximately 9:45pm a police officer saw Legebokoff driving his truck back onto the highway from a remote logging road.
